Freedom and Letting Go

I thought it would be worth sharing how I came to open the Tai Chi Studio way back in 2002. At the time I had just moved out of London to Wivenhoe - I was still, by all accounts, a Licensed London Cab Driver and at the time, the plan was that I would work three days a week in London (staying at my sons to save the long drive back) and then spend four days at home.
Well, after several weeks I had done very little work and the time was fast approaching when the Taxi's annual overhaul was due to take place - now this could cost anything up to a few grand if your cab was not exactly new so I decided I would give up taxi driving and get the cab mot'd and just use it as a private vehicle while seeing what direction my life would take. It didn't exactly do well on the mot test and I decided to just take the 'old girl' down to the breakers yard - I had really had enough of taxi driving. I can still recall the feeling of total freedom as I walked back along the Wivenhoe trail from Colchester not having a clue what I was going to do.
Now, in Wivenhoe High Street there were several retail properties to rent and I thought I would try my hand at running a shop - what sort of shop? I had no idea; being really into my music I thought maybe  that would be good or also being into art, I thought that may be an option  - the thing was I had no idea of how to run that sort of business at all but that didn't stop me contacting the agents to show me round a few properties.
The lady who came to show me around was amazed that I had no sort of business plan and no sort of experience and asked me what else I could do - she seemed generally concerned at my naivety. I told her that I was also a qualified Tai Chi instructor although I had never thought for a minute that a full time occupation could be made from that. It turned out that she had a small unit on her books in the Wivenhoe Business Centre and when she showed me the place I just knew it was right - within a month I was teaching Tai Chi and Chi Kung everyday!!!
This goes to show what can happen when you just open yourself up to possibilities and have a little trust in the universe and the way things work.
